Smile Mirror (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is a front-camera mirror and
smile-training app. We care about your privacy. This policy explains what the
App accesses and how information is handled.
Private by design: Expression detection runs entirely
on your device. Your camera images are not
uploaded to any server, and we do not operate user accounts.
1. No server, on-device processing
- The App shows a live front-camera preview and detects facial expression
(“emotion”) using an on-device machine-learning model (TensorFlow Lite).
- Camera frames are processed entirely on your device and are not uploaded,
stored on, or transmitted to any server operated by us.
- We do not operate accounts, and we do not collect names, emails,
contacts, or location.
2. Camera
The App requires camera access to function as a mirror and to detect
expressions in real time. Camera images are used only for the live preview and
on-device detection, and are not saved unless you take a photo.
3. Photos you capture
If you tap the shutter, the App saves the photo to your device’s local photo
library/gallery (with a small “Smile Mirror” watermark). These photos stay on
your device; we do not receive or upload them.
4. Wearable companion (Apple Watch / Galaxy Watch)
If you use the watch companion, a low-resolution preview and shutter/focus
commands are exchanged locally between your phone and your paired watch (Apple
WatchConnectivity / Wear OS Data Layer). This data is not sent to us.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
- The App may display ads provided by Google AdMob and its mediation
partners. To serve ads, these third parties may collect and use certain
information, such as your device’s advertising identifier and app usage / ad
interaction data, to provide and personalize ads and measure performance.
- On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before any
tracking. Where required (e.g., EEA/UK), we present a consent choice via
Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP).
- Google’s handling of data is governed by
Google’s Privacy Policy.

how Google uses information from apps.
- If you purchase “Remove Ads”, ads are disabled.
6. In-app purchases
Optional purchases (e.g., “Remove Ads”) are processed by the Apple App Store
or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
7. Permissions summary
- Camera: required (mirror + on-device expression detection).
- Photos / Storage: to save photos you capture.
- Internet: to load ads (when enabled).
8. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by your
country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Data security & retention
Because processing is on-device and we do not run servers, we do not retain
your images or personal data. Ad-related data is handled by Google under its
policies.
10. Your choices / rights
- You can revoke camera / photos permissions in your device settings (the
mirror needs camera to work).
- You can reset or limit ad personalization via your device settings
(Advertising ID / ATT) and the in-app consent options.
- EEA/UK (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA) residents may have rights to
access / delete data held by third parties such as Google; see Google’s
policy and your device’s privacy controls.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; the “Effective date” above will change accordingly.
